Graduate Profile
The Program aims to train high-level specialists who have a broad mastery of Mining Engineering and who are capable of developing scientific and technological know-how and original research for the mining industry. The topic areas covered are defined by the strengths of the academic body and include each of the activities in the process of mineral extraction.
In particular, students can specialize in Evaluation of Mineral Resources, Mine Planning, Mining Technology, Rock Mechanics, Mining Automation or Geo-Mining-Metallurgy.
The expectation is that the research carried out in these areas will extend and deepen current knowledge to significantly impact the industry of the future. For this reason, individuals from a wide range of training backgrounds are encouraged to apply who are motivated to put their know how to use in the mining industry. The Program includes an academic load that allows researchers from other areas to be trained in specific problems of Mining Engineering and to deepen their knowledge in their areas of expertise so as to generate contributions to scientific and technological advances in the area.
Graduates will be highly trained to lead and carry out research and development activities in universities, organizations, and private companies in the mining area, and to perform academic activities as well as consulting work at the service of companies in the mining sector: all in an effort to generate developments and technology that empower the mining industry.
